The firmware MUST BE UPDATED FIRST before beginning the installation. If an older version of the CMU software is being used, the CarPlay/Android Auto-compatible USB hub may not be recognized. The software must be v70.00.21 or later. If not be sure to update the software. Once the CMU has been attached to the CarPlay/Android Auto-compatible USB hub, the software cannot be updated.

Having no experience with jobs like this, I was able to do the install in about 4 hours, with a significant amount of that spent trying to find the firmware updates. After that, it was a straightforward process following a YouTube video. Genuine made in Japan module. Well worth the price compared to updating the Mazda navigation maps, and it's great having access to your phone on the display!

This kit is exactly what I was looking for to install Carplay on my gf's 2018 MX-5 Club. It contained the USB hub, wiring, sponge tape, and zip ties, everything need for installation. Took an hour to two to install but was not too difficult.

Purchased this June 14th and got it delivered the 18th. Installed it the 19th. Make sure to watch YouTube videos for your model car exactly (including location of the USB hub) because I was following along with the wrong one and it ended up costing me a bit more time to get it installed. Also, I was not experienced in this at all, in fact, I never took apart any part of my car before so this was an entirely new experience. It took me 3-4 hours but I got everything installed, put back together, and it works perfectly. No complaints.

Fast shipping. The Carplay kit is easy to install, the most difficult part of the installation is remove the old until. You can find the instruction easily for the Mazda 3. Having Waze on the infotainment screen is much better than the screen on my iphone. Highly recommend produce and seller. Will buy from MedCenter Mazda again.

The end result is a great improvement over the OEM infotainment experience. The kit is without any instructions, so thorough online research is needed to insure you know how this goes into your particular car. Youtube in a great resource. in my particular car the distance between the infotainment center and the USB input is less than a foot. The kit comes with ~6 foot cables,so managing the cables can be a challenge. The most difficult part of the installation was snaking the cables through the dash structure.

initial problem the monitor remained black and blinking start engine light when done hooking up. Problem, I had blown the "room" fuse 15amp in cabin. Took awhile to trouble shoot. Replaced fuse, rechecked wiring and good to go. System works great, money saver, easy if you don't blow a fuse. Very happy!

2017 Mazda3 touring. Product shipped fast. Clear instructions. There are better methods to install on Youtube. It was easier to install than I thought it would be.
Plug and play. The most difficult part is snaking the wire down inside the dash but really not that hard to do. The method I used to remove the old module was a long flat tipped screwdriver to snap off the retaining clips on the top of the old module and pry the unit out, accessing from the opening in the dash where the touch screen is located (after the screen was removed, of course). The unit worked immediately and perfectly. Using CarPlay is a life changing event. So much easier and safer than mounting your phone on the dash/windshield and using bluetooth to connect audio. Highly recommended. Great price too! Some other aftermarket CarPlay adapters are 3 or 4 times the cost of this unit, and other car manufacturers don't always have the option to upgrade to CarPlay/Android Auto on older vehicles.

The Med Center Mazda price for the Android Auto Retrofit kit is excellent, they shipped immediately, and the kit arrived within two days. They even supplied install instructions(nice!). When I have other parts needs, I'll happily order again from Med Center Mazda! It would be nice if they could supply/refer the firmware update v70.00.21, but Mazda may prohibit. ;-(

This is great , between 18 and 19 cx5 , this is the only difference, and I fix that buying and installing by myself the part . it don't even take 2 hrs to install . I bought 2 units, for me and my father's car . Soo far great , easy to work and navigate from the control in the center console .

Car Play in my 2015 Mazda 3!

Installed this last week, not hard at all after watching some You Tube videos. Unfortunately the touch screen doesn't work while in motion, but I think that is just a Mazda thing.

Prepped cables, watched install videos, and started install on 2016 CX-5. Only issue I ran into was getting the old hub out from console. Solution was to use a putty knife to push through from front to disengage the clips. Everything worked perfectly.

Arrived quickly and it was just as described. I already had my firmware updated by the dealer after experiencing some problems with the infotainment system, so I only had to install the parts. It took about 45 minutes to 1, I have the usb hub located in the dash on my Mazda 3 and didn't have to pull apart the entire center console, thanks to a great idea I found on a Youtube video of drilling out the old unit.
